Finding a Park

You want a green space to relax and ask for the nearest park.

You
Hi, do you know where there's a park around here?
Local
see, el PAHR-keh ehs-TAH en-FREHN-teh deh lah bee-blyoh-TEH-kah, ah trehs KWAH-drahs.
Yes, the park is in front of the library, three blocks away.
"Enfrente de" means directly across from or facing something. Don't confuse it with "en frente" (in front).
You
¿Y está al lado de alguna tienda? Para ubicarme mejor.
ee ehs-TAH al LAH-doh deh ahl-GOO-nah TYEHN-dah? PAH-rah oo-bee-KAR-meh meh-HOR.
And is it next to any store? So I can find it more easily.
Local
It's next to a pharmacy and behind the big church.
"Detrás de" (behind) is one of the key positional phrases. Learn it alongside "al lado de" (next to) and "enfrente de" (in front of).
